About Wendy Baker

Wendy Baker is a true Londoner. She was born in Paddington quite a few years ago... When she left school to be a writer like her father she took a temporary job with a film company to earn some extra money but it was only 20 years later that she actually started to write...and having got the sack from the film company she decided to become a model...it wasn't long before she was flying around the world working for all the top fashion houses in the business and worked at Pinewood studios on many commercials.

She moved to Rome and then later to Paris - at the ripe old age of 22 she retired from modelling and started one of the first boutiques in London under her design name of 'Harriet' - she designed clothes for Julie Christie and Sandy Shaw and many other celebrates and went 'clubbing' with the Beatles.

Harriet Boutique grew slowly but steadily and in her third year Wendy opened her 2nd shop in Bond Street and then followed that with a 'shop within a shop' in Neiman Marcus in New York - before long she had shops in all the major department stores such as Harrods, Liberties, Harvey Nichols - Bonwitt Teller and Saks in New York... ..the stories she has of those days would fill at least two books......

Now Wendy is an international interior decorator and was living until recently in the South of France with her husband and her dog called Beatrice - she travels so much she often wakes up and wonders which country she is in! In September they moved back to London and is house hunting.........watch this space! Her future plans are to write only....but if the right project comes along who knows.....
